Questions and Answers
Common questions about the Semi-Rigid Cervical Collar. For anything specific to your own condition, speak to a qualified healthcare professional.
How do I choose the right size?
Choose the size from the neck-circumference chart. The chin should rest on the shaped upper edge without excessive pressure on the throat. Available sizes: S, M, L, XL. Measure around the neck at the level where the collar will sit. Keep the tape level and comfortably close to the skin without compression. Check the size table on this page against your own measurement before ordering.
How do I put it on and adjust it?
Put it in position first, then close it, using the adjustable hook-and-loop overlap closure, working from the middle outwards so the pressure stays even. The product is partially adjustable. It should feel snug and evenly supported, never painful, and should not leave deep marks on the skin. Loosen or reposition it if it does.
Will it restrict my movement?
Limits cervical flexion, extension, and rotation more than a soft collar; it is not a rigid immobilizer. It is designed for firm support. It should feel secure without pinching, sliding, or cutting off circulation.
Can I wear the collar while sleeping?
Wearing schedule, including whether the collar is worn at night, should follow the advice of the clinician who recommended it. Prolonged unsupervised use is not advised, because the neck muscles need periods of normal activity.
How is this different from the other neck supports?
The Semi-Rigid Cervical Collar has a semi-rigid shell and controls movement more than the Soft Cervical Collar (C01). It is still not a rigid collar for full immobilisation.
How do I wash and care for it?
Fasten all closures before washing. Follow the care label supplied with the product. Unless the label states otherwise, hand wash gently in lukewarm water with mild detergent and air dry flat away from direct heat. Do not bleach, wring, tumble dry, or iron.
When should I stop using it and seek advice?
A semi-rigid cervical collar should be fitted and used as directed by a qualified healthcare professional. Do not drive or operate machinery if neck movement is restricted. Stop use and seek advice for increased pain, pressure areas, numbness, tingling, dizziness, difficulty swallowing, breathing discomfort, or skin irritation.
